Faculty & Staff
As faculty and staff at the University of Denver, you are critical to advancing and elevating the 4D model of holistic student learning and development through your teaching, advising, programming and service. The University of Denver invites you as a faculty and staff member to help shape the 4D Experience.
Through the links below, we invite you to explore how you may engage and collaborate to advance the 4D Experience, access 4D-related resources, enhance your pedagogy and practice through professional development opportunities and meet with the 4D team. We also encourage you to email 4DExperience@noirstyleonline.com to subscribe to the 4D Newsletter to be kept informed of 4D news, opportunities and events
Opportunities to Engage
4D Innovations Cohort
The 4D Innovations Cohort is a design incubator for staff and faculty from across DU. Through a structured and dynamic design thinking process, cohort members reimagine, design and integrate models and practices that further embed the 4D Experience across the co-curriculum.
4D Infusion Grants
4D Infusion Grants help faculty and staff implement projects that enhance growth and development in line with the 4D. Projects are evaluated based on integrative or collaborative design, potential impact and scalability. Grantees may receive up to $1,500 to go both to supporting project activities and to stipends to support time and effort around implementation. Grants are awarded annually.
Please note: the Infusions Grant cycle has closed for AY22-23. Please look for information regarding the AY23-24 application cycle in summer 2023.
The 4D Symposium brings together faculty, staff, and students every May to share and engage in dialogue around research, progress and models that elevate the 4D Experience. The Symposium features keynotes, presentations and panels, interactive workshops and more.
Create, Activate, Play (4D)U
This university-wide festival celebrates play and well-being through creative expression, group fitness and wellness activities. It is designed to build community, strengthen a sense of belonging and elevate the 4D Experience by bringing together students, staff, faculty and administration for two days of exciting events, including workshops, activities and fitness classes led by members of the DU community.
4D Authentically DU Lunch Series
These monthly lunches take place in the Chopp Grand Central Market in Community Commons. They give students and faculty the opportunity to have lunch together to foster meaningful relationships outside of the classroom. In doing so, they support belonging, increase student confidence in connecting with professors and foster open, authentic conversations.
4D Learning Communities
4D Learning Communities
The 4D Learning Communities are led by the 4D Faculty Research Fellows and focus on topics critical to the 4D Experience, including reflection, well-being and character exploration. These 4D Learning Communities offer the opportunity to engage, learn and collaborate with colleagues around further elevating one's pedagogy and practice in line with 4D.
4D Workshops and Trainings
The 4D Experience team regularly hosts workshops, sessions and trainings that educate the campus community on 4D frameworks and topics to create shared understanding and approaches. Workshop topics include mapping and assessment as well as designing for belonging and purpose.
4D Constellation of Support Program
This program is an opportunity for faculty, staff, and graduate students to gain frameworks and strategies for caring for themselves, their colleagues and their students and thereby creating a stronger, more resilient community in line with the 4D model and constellation.
The 4D Symposium brings together faculty, staff and students every May to share and engage in dialogue around research, progress and models that elevate the 4D Experience. The Symposium features keynotes, presentations and panels, interactive workshops and more.
Templates & Activities
We have compiled a range of activities, exercises and templates that may help your students reflect on and articulate their experiences and pathways, connect with peers and explore issues related to well-being, character and purpose
We offer resources to support your work not only in identifying and mapping your course or programmatic learning outcomes to 4D but also in developing an assessment plan and embracing evidence-based storytelling for impact.
We share research and scholarly activities that relate to the four dimensions and highlight the work of our DU scholars and practitioners in advancing holistic learning and development in line with 4D.
The 4D Team is happy to meet with you to answer questions, provide educative sessions, find creative and adaptive 4D approaches suited to your context, and discuss potential partnerships. Send us a question via email, meet with us once, or collaborate with us on an ongoing basis.
